Neighborhood News Bureau honors distinguished midtown community seniors at the Trinity Presbyterian Church on April 24, 2012. The citizens being honored lived through many civil rights struggles throughout the 20th century. They shared stories about the tougher times of segregation and discrimination, but also of a community where people took care of each other. Seniors being honored include Lounell Britt, Mabel Gibson, Ethel Johnson, Johnny B. Mack, Leo Nausbaum, Mary Rogers, Caroline Starling, Rev. Frederick Terry, Florence Thompson, Mortaki Walker, David Welch, Caroline D. Williams, Charlie Williams, Louis Howard Williams and Fred Winters. USFSP Department of Journalism and Media Studies founders Robert Dardenne and Michael Killenberg discuss the founding of Neighborhood News Bureau and its dedication to providing fair coverage of the Midtown community.
